I&#8217;m in a tizzy, my friends. After two wonderful trips, I&#8217;d been floating in the timeless, comfortingly clueless zone known as jet lag. Then suddenly, a monster to-do list attacked me and I woke up. My next <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sasquatchbooks.com\/book\/?isbn=9781632171177&amp;chibi-samurai-wants-a-pet-by-sanae-ishida\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">book<\/a> is launching NEXT WEEK. I&#8217;ve gotta get my party hat on and get promotin&#8217;. For any of you locals, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.qabookco.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Queen Anne Book Co.<\/a> will be hosting a launch party on Sunday, August 13th at noon &#8212; would love to see you there! We have super fun activities planned for the kiddos (and kiddos at heart). And yes, there will be Japanese snacks. How can you not come when Japanese snacks are involved?<\/p>\n<p>My book, of course, has nothing to do with the awesome <a href=\"https:\/\/store.closetcasepatterns.com\/products\/charlie-caftan-pattern\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Charlie Caftan<\/a> I&#8217;m sporting up there. I love this new pattern from Heather&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/store.closetcasepatterns.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">collection<\/a> inspired by the one and only\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nobleanddaughter.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ms. Wensley<\/a>. As soon as I saw it, I knew I needed it in a lightweight indigo chambray.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-16454\" src=\"http:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/charliecaftan2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"1102\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/charliecaftan2.jpg 800w, https:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/charliecaftan2-218x300.jpg 218w, https:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/charliecaftan2-743x1024.jpg 743w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It comes together quickly and the only fiddly part for me was the panel insertion at the waist. I love everything about it, except&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-16455\" src=\"http:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/charliecaftan3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"1144\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/charliecaftan3.jpg 800w, https:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/charliecaftan3-210x300.jpg 210w, https:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/charliecaftan3-716x1024.jpg 716w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I sort of wish I&#8217;d chosen a darker fabric for the pocket lining. The polka dots are cute, and I always like to use cute fabric for my pocket linings, but I didn&#8217;t think about how the lining peeks out quite often and the white is a bit jarring for me. I used polka dot fabric for my <a href=\"http:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/?p=15583\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Endless Summer Tunic<\/a>\u00a0as well, but the grey blends in perfectly (I wear this tunic <em>all the time<\/em>, by the way).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-16459\" src=\"http:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/charliecaftan8.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"840\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/charliecaftan8.jpg 800w, https:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/charliecaftan8-286x300.jpg 286w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>But that&#8217;s a minor detail that I can easily rectify when I have a few extra moments. Chances are good that those few extra moments might happen in 2020. Fingers crossed. If you look closely, you can see a rainbow on the bottom right corner of the image above. According to the measurement guidelines (particularly my bust size), size 12 seemed a wiser choice, but having sewn up the <a href=\"http:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/?p=14613\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ginger jeans<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/?p=16247\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Morgan jeans<\/a>, I&#8217;ve figured a few things out and sized down. So glad I did! I&#8217;m looking peaked in these photos because they were taken the day before we left on the Japan trip&#8230;I was a wee bit stressed.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a winner, my friends. I promised Heather that I would take a photo of Charlie in Tokyo, and I am nothing if not a promise keeper.
