I tell you, these days I can&#8217;t tell what&#8217;s up and what&#8217;s down with all that&#8217;s going on.\u00a0There are daily events at K&#8217;s school, work deadlines are looming and it&#8217;s dawning on me that my dream of sewing up a whole new wardrobe for my Japan trip is of the pipe variety. Yes, my friends, this little number is made out of floaty, slippery, hair-pullingly challenging silk. My mom gave me this fabric years ago, and I had visions of sewing up a summer tunic for myself at some point, but when I asked K to choose material for her graduation dress, she beelined for this one.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-16419\" src=\"http:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/2017silkgraddress3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"678\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/2017silkgraddress3.jpg 800w, https:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/2017silkgraddress3-300x254.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I can&#8217;t even begin to tell you how relieved I am that she loves it. She found every muslin I attempted somehow lacking (I don&#8217;t blame her &#8212; I was trying to hack <a href=\"https:\/\/www.califayecollection.com\/products\/sincerely-dress-girls\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">this pattern<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/ckcpatterns.com\/paris-girls.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">this pattern<\/a> together and it took me a few tries. It&#8217;s basically crocheting thread, and I had fun.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-16420\" src=\"http:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/2017silkgraddress4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"569\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/2017silkgraddress4.jpg 800w, https:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/2017silkgraddress4-300x213.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I thought I had all the kinks worked out and sewed up the bodice with the lining, only to find out that the sleeve was digging into her arm pit.\u00a0It was a hairy moment since I wasn&#8217;t\u00a0sure if I&#8217;d be able to enlarge the armhole without messing the whole thing up, but whew, it all worked out.
