Clearly, a pile of knits that have seen better days.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-16223\" src=\"http:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/lindensandtoaster2.jpg\" alt=\"lindensandtoaster2\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/lindensandtoaster2.jpg 800w, https:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/lindensandtoaster2-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A few weeks (months?) ago, I hinted at having sewn a bunch of <a href=\"http:\/\/shop.grainlinestudio.com\/collections\/linden\" target=\"_blank\">Linden sweatshirt<\/a>s and not only did I sew six of them, I have worn them to death.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-16229\" src=\"http:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/lindensandtoaster8.jpg\" alt=\"lindensandtoaster8\" width=\"800\" height=\"758\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/lindensandtoaster8.jpg 800w, https:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/lindensandtoaster8-300x284.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>From a distance, they don&#8217;t look too bad. Case in point:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-16224\" src=\"http:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/lindensandtoaster3.jpg\" alt=\"lindensandtoaster3\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/lindensandtoaster3.jpg 800w, https:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/lindensandtoaster3-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This brownish-khaki-ish double-knit is incredibly soft and comfortable but the pilling! The snagging! I truly look tragic\u00a0when I wear it. The navy-and-white stripe and black with striped back have suffered similar declines in presentability. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.etsy.com\/listing\/472365657\/ocean-blue-heathered-french-terry-knit?ga_search_query=french+terry&amp;ref=shop_items_search_11\" target=\"_blank\">Ocean Blue French terry<\/a> I got from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.etsy.com\/shop\/RaspberryCreekFabric?ref=l2-shopheader-name\" target=\"_blank\">Raspberry Creek Fabrics<\/a> is wonderful in quality, however, and it&#8217;s been holding up decently, as has the light grey sweatshirt fabric from&#8230;I don&#8217;t know. Maybe Pacific Fabrics? The double-knit was from <a href=\"https:\/\/drygoodsdesignonline.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Drygoods<\/a>, I&#8217;m pretty sure. Here&#8217;s the conversation that followed when I triumphantly donned my new Toaster:<\/p>\n<p>M: Did you make that?<\/p>\n<p>Me: Yes! It was so fast to sew!<\/p>\n<p>M:&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>Me: Do you not like it?<\/p>\n<p>M: Um.<\/p>\n<p>Me: I know. I&#8217;m calling it my Steve Jobs top. This thick rayon jersey has no drape and very little stretch, so I feel stiff and awkward in it. I also added quite a bit to the bottom band since it&#8217;s what I always do to account for my loooong torso. I think that and the extra amount I added to the turtleneck are throwing the proportions off.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-16227\" src=\"http:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/lindensandtoaster6.jpg\" alt=\"lindensandtoaster6\" width=\"800\" height=\"997\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/lindensandtoaster6.jpg 800w, https:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/lindensandtoaster6-241x300.jpg 241w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The back&#8217;s not too bad. My <a href=\"http:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/?p=14613\" target=\"_blank\">Ginger jeans<\/a> are still surviving though I accidentally ripped the right knee on\u00a0a jutting apparatus in my basement (it&#8217;s torn all my jeans and caused <a href=\"http:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/?p=14877\" target=\"_blank\">other shenanigans<\/a>). Maybe I&#8217;ll try this pattern again with a different knit. That might be the ticket.<\/p>\n<p>With spring around the corner, a resurgence of sewing motivation is brewing inside of me. I might even venture to sew something that&#8217;s not knit!
